Psychedelic Therapist Lynne Nardizzi, LCSW, Talks Psychedelic Integration
Meet Lynne Nardizzi, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Psychedelic Integration Therapist from Santa Fe who offers psychotherapy for those struggling to integrate psychedelic, spiritual, or near-death experiences into their lives. Lynne also is open to speaking at events and workshops as well regarding medicinal plants and spirituality. Frshmind’s had the opportunity to ask her more about psychedelic integration therapy and her opinions on the shifting mental health field.
What got you interested in providing psychedelic and spiritual integration to your patients?I became interested in psychedelics and spiritual integration based on my own personal healing of an autoimmune disease. I had rheumatoid arthritis and traveled to the Amazon jungle in Peru to experience firsthand the healing of a disease I had been told was incurable. I worked with an experienced shaman and medicinal plants in the jungle, including ayahuasca. This naturally led to becoming more interested in psychedelics, just as psychedelic research was expanding. And the spiritual component is inherently a part of it all. What makes your practice special? My own personal healing and integration, along with over 20 years of clinical experience! I had chronic pain for years when I had rheumatoid arthritis, and I want people to know that healing is always possible. How do you see psychedelic and psychospiritual therapy evolving in the future? The research is showing incredible potential benefits for psychedelics, and the spiritual and integration aspect will continue to be important and necessary. What’s the one piece of advice you would offer to patients considering psychedelic integration to help them manage their mental health?
The one piece of advice I would offer is to do a lot of research and to be very aware of the risks and benefits of using psychedelics, as well as the legal status in your area. What are the most remarkable changes you have seen in patients who have leveraged psychedelic integration to manage their mental wellness?I see that people have a deeper connection with one’s self, one’s purpose, and a deepening of consciousness. What challenges do you see for further integration of psychedelic-based therapies into more mainstream health care?
We need to continue to discuss the risks of psychedelics, and the importance of set, setting and having an experienced guide or shaman. And of course, being aware of the legal status!
