Meet June Jackson: New Orleans Psychedelic Integration Specialist and Life Coach
June Jackson, a New Orleans-based Psychedelic Integration Specialist and Certified Life Coach at Awaken Awareness has worked with thousands of people individually and has led dozens of weekend retreats, aiding those with concerns including but not limited to spiritual awakenings, trauma/PTSD, anxiety, and shadow work. Having studied under spiritual teachers and training in domestic violence and grief recovery, June is confident about holding a space for you for whatever is arising and helping you with clarity and moving forward. Frshminds got the chance to ask June some questions about her practice and views on psychedelic integration therapy. See what she had to say below:
What got you interested in providing psychedelic integration to your patients?
After many years of seeking and intense spiritual practice, I came to appreciate the importance of the mystical experience in my life. Throughout the years as I worked with thousands of individuals and I came to realize that the mystical experience is not as difficult to achieve with the help of the medicines. When you integrate your experiences, they become a positive part of your daily life and help you move forward with profound wisdom and clarity. The psychedelic experience might be one of the most profound experiences of your life.
Can you tell us a bit about your experience studying in India? How has that shaped your practice?
My first experiences of Samadhi were realized between 1990 and 2000 when I studied under Sri Ganapathi Sachchidananda. My practice and my life has been greatly influenced by my experiences with the Guru in India and many other parts of the world as I followed him around for those years.
How do you see psychedelic therapy evolving in the future?
I sincerely hope that more people will realize that it may be an option for them!
What’s the one piece of advice you would offer to patients considering psychedelic integration to help them manage their mental health?
Start with One on One Sessions with your Psychedelic Integration Specialist. The number of sessions for preparatory work will be determined and agreed upon by both parties. I have had clients that only had one session and then they had their journey. And I’ve had clients that I met with once a week for 6 months before their first journey. Everyone is different, so find a Specialist that is able to help determine what is right for you.
In your opinion, what are the key differences between individual therapy and transformative retreats?
I think there is a recipe for everyone consisting of One on One Sessions, Small Group Sessions, Large Group Sessions, and Retreats. Finding the right balance for you is the most important part!
What challenges do you see for further integration of psychedelic-based therapies into more mainstream health care?
Mainstream hesitancy will eventually make way for more willingness to have a personal experience and then make decisions from there.
