Cap is initially slightly conical or bell-shaped, expanding to convex or nearly plane with maturity often with wavy edges and a central bump. Cap is tan to walnut brown and fades to yellow-brown with age.

The gills are attached to the stem, potentially in a slightly hooked manner (subsinuate), and cream-coloured when young, becoming violet-brown with sporulation.
