Cap is conical to convex or slightly bell-shaped, with a slight central bump (umbo). Colour is yellow or reddish brown, becoming paler towards the edge.


Gills are attached to the stem, sometimes in a hooked manner. Yellowish gray to violet brown or dark sepia with white edges.

Stem is cylindrical, sometimes slightly thickened at the base, hollow, and somewhat flexible. White to reddish-brown/black with white wooly scales towards the base. Veil is well developed and white forming a slightly fibrous or membranous annulus.
