Are there any medical guidelines?

– Based on our experience with Ayahuasca, it is recommended, if possible, that participants stop most medications, four (4) weeks in advance of their visit to the retreat. Having said that, we acknowledge this may not be feasible for all participants. It is imperative that you talk to your doctor about any medication you may be taking in order to determine how it reacts with MAO inhibitors. Be sure to keep track of any medication that has a health risk if you discontinue taking it.

– While it is not 100% necessary to discontinue medications prior to your retreat visit, its very important to discuss the use of Ayahuasca this with your primary care physician, as well as being 100% transparent with our staff when filling out the medical portion of your intake questionnaire prior to booking your retreat.

– It is important that you understand that some medications are clearly contraindicated with Ayahuasca use and unlike the consequences of food allergies/interactions, Ayahuasca interaction with prescription and over the counter pharmaceuticals as well as certain herbs can be potentially fatal. In particular, the drugs and medications listed below can be hazardous when mixed Ayahuasca and should be discontinued at least 4 weeks prior to coming to the retreat:
