Panaeolus

Panaeolus mushrooms are typically found in northern climates, either in grasslands or growing on or around dung deposits. While related to the Coprinosis and Corpinellus genera, its gills do not become saturated with water when exposed to the air. This species is not used as food / sustenance. Most Panaeolus sub-species contain psilocybin and are thus capable of providing for a psychedelic experience. Depending on the classification system, the Panaeolus are sometimes split into two groups of genera, with the sub-species that become bluish being called ‘Copelandia’.

Do not use this information to pick mushrooms in the wild. It should be noted that although these different strains do possess different concentrations of psilocybin and psilocin, factors such as dosage, set, and setting are arguably more determinant of the outcome of effects experienced.
