Overview
The Lawayra Ayahuasca retreat in Fredonia, Colombia, offers affordable and fully-inclusive retreats for medium-sized groups of between 20 and 25 people. The retreat was founded by Sam Believ, who started drinking Ayahuasca to help him recover from depression. During one of these journeys he saw, through the medicine, that his purpose was to learn to work with it and help others, so he started the retreat.
According to Believ, “Psychedelics are natural for humans and every culture used to have their own. Western society lost theirs, and with it, their roots, this is why our society is like a headless chicken. Psychedelics offer a connection to earth, to God and different ways to look at things…not to mention their healing capacity. Psychedelics seem to be the only way out of the mental health crisis we are in.”
Lawayra Ayahuasca retreat focuses on community and you will spend time learning from others in your cohort, and they from you. We try hard to remain affordable and accessible. But we now also feature beautiful new, spacious cabins
Located a 60 to 90 minute drive south of Medellin, through the rolling green hills close to El Cinco, Antioquia. The elevated finca sits on 5 hectares of land, providing an expansive view of the green mountainous valley below.
Behind the property, there is also a running river you can explore in your downtime.
About Our Team
Taita (shaman) Fernando Jojoa leads our ceremonies.
Taita Fernando Jojoa continues the longstanding Jojoa lineage. The Jojoa medicinal tradition goes back generations. Fernando belongs to the Inga tribe of the Putumayo region in the Colombian Amazon. Here he cultivates and brews ayahuasca.
Fernando Jojoa has worked as a Taita (shaman) for 12 years, gaining a wealth of experience. He began training as a shaman at 7 years old. At this time, he began drinking medicine 3 times a week for 10 consecutive years.
On top of being a great Taita, Fernando is also a talented musician. Our team is composed of experienced facilitators and medicine musicians alike.
Our International team comes from all over the world: Europe, Australia and of course South America.
Our ceremonies and integration circles are conducted in English.
At any given time you will feel taken care of and looked after. We have 100s of video reviews and 100s of google reviews that attest to the good care we provide.
